PED Pressure Equipment Certification
Update:2019-11-04 View:4980
Introduction to CE certification of pressure equipment
Pressure equipment products (such as fire extinguishers, pressure gauges, valve parts, safety valves, air cabinets, tower tanks, pipelines, pipe fittings, steam equipment, etc.) that are sold to the EU from May 28, 2002. Must comply with the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED, 97/23/EC). Equipment with a design pressure exceeding 0.5 bar, regardless of its pressure and volume, must comply with CE-PED regulations.
The Pressure Equipment Directive (PED, 97/23/EC) is one of the instructions. Equipment with a design pressure exceeding 0.5 bar, regardless of its pressure and volume, must comply with the PED regulations. Equipment that loads or transports fluids such as fire extinguishers, pressure gauges, valve components, safety valves, air cabinets, tower tanks, piping, fittings, steam equipment, etc. must comply with PED regulations.
The PED was adopted on May 29, 1997, effective from November 29, 1999, and has a 30-month grace period before May 28, 2002, that is, the product can be selected for PED or national regulations ( However, the applicable original regulations of the countries can only be circulated in the country. From May 29, 2002, the original regulations of the countries will be abolished, and the PED becomes a mandatory regulation for European pressure equipment. Therefore, pressure equipment manufacturers should respond as early as possible, so as not to be rejected outside the European market.
According to the PED specification
I. Pressure equipment and component requirements above a specific pressure/volume threshold
1 with security
2 Meets the basic safety requirements for design, manufacturing, and testing
3 Meet the appropriate conformity assessment procedure
4 Attached to the CE mark and related regulations
Second, pressure equipment and component requirements below a specific pressure / volume threshold
1 with security
2 Designed and manufactured according to perfect engineering practices
3 Attach the label of the relevant regulations (you do not need to attach the CE mark) Product selection and conformity assessment mode selection
4 Manufacturers must analyze and classify products in order to comply with the different regulations of PED for different pressure equipment. Products can be categorized into five categories:
5 PED Clause 3.3 (designed and manufactured in accordance with the improved engineering practices of Member States), and Category I through Class IV. The higher the risk, the higher the classification level and the stricter the regulations.

Pressure Equipment Directive CE Certification Product Technical Data Requirements
Manufacturers must analyze and classify products in order to comply with the different regulations of PED for different pressure equipment. Products can be categorized into five categories:
PED Clause 3.3 (designed and manufactured in accordance with the improved engineering practices of Member States), and Category I through Class IV. The higher the risk,
The higher the classification level, the stricter the regulations.
The conformity assessment procedure applies to equipment of Classes I~IV. The choices of the manufacturers are as follows:
For products that only need to apply the lower requirement mode, the manufacturer can also choose to apply the higher demand mode.
The description of each mode is as follows:
Among them, the mode A does not have to be verified by the certification body, and the other modes are verified by the designated body approved by the EU member states.
Pressure equipment CE certification (PED directive) range
The Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC, as defined by the European Commission's Corporate Directorate, covers a wide range of applications, including the following pressure devices and fields:
