UKCA certification

What is the UKCA logo? UK Brexit, Ce certification no longer as the UK market access symbol, the use of UKCA certification as the UK market products compulsory access symbol. UKCA is a new UK product label that will be used for products marketed in the UK (England, Wales and Scotland) and UKCA will be used for most products currently subject to the CE Mark. On 1 September 2020, the Department for Business, energy and industrial strategy issued guidelines on the use of the UKCA logo. The UKCA LOGO will officially be in use from the 2021 on January 1, with a transitional period ending at the end of 2020, all related products are subject to the UK national standard starting with "BS" . In most cases, you can still use the CE Mark by 2021 to give your business time to adjust to the new requirements. UKCA country and territory, England, Wales and Scotland, excluding Northern Ireland; the Northern Ireland market can not use UKCA alone, but CE. Product categories under the UKCA certification range are toy safety, pleasure craft and private craft, simple pressure vessels, Electromagnetic compatibility, non-automatic weighing devices, measuring instruments, lifts, explosion-proof equipment, radio equipment, pressure equipment, personal protective equipment, gas appliances, machinery, outdoor noise, eco-design, aerosols, low-voltage electrical equipment, hazardous substances restrictions. Products covered by the UKCA logo, but with some special rules: Medical Devices, rail interoperability, construction products, civil explosives. The format of the UKCA logo requires (1) that if you zoom in or out of the UKCA logo, you scale it up. (2) the height of the UKCA marking shall be at least 5mm unless a different minimum size is specified in the relevant regulations. (3) UKCA logos need to be clearly visible and legible (2023 must be permanently attached after 1 January) . UKCA certification technical documentation requires that you or your authorized representative (as permitted by law) keep documentation that demonstrates that your product meets regulatory requirements. These documents must be kept for another 10 years after the product is put on the market. This information can be requested at any time by a market watchdog or law enforcement agency to check whether your product meets legal requirements. The information you must retain will vary depending on the specific regulations that are relevant to your product. You must keep a record of how the product was designed and made, how the product was certified to meet the requirements, the manufacturer and the address of any storage facility, and you should keep the information in the form of technical documentation that can be provided if required by the market watchdog. UK Compliance Statement 1. The UK compliance statement is a document drawn up for most legitimate products bearing the UKCA logo. In the document, you, as the manufacturer or authorized representative (as permitted by the relevant regulations) should: declare that the product complies with the requirements of the relevant regulations. Make sure the document has the name and address of the manufacturer (or your authorized representative) and information about the product and the conformity assessment body (if relevant) . A UK compliance statement should be provided to the market watchdog. 2. The information required for the UK Declaration of compliance is basically the same as that currently required for the EU declaration of compliance. Different regulations may have different requirements, but should usually include: ▪ The name and Full Office address of you or your authorized representative ▪ product serial number, model number or model number identification ▪ stating that you are fully responsible for product compliance. Details of the AIS implementing the conformity assessment process (if applicable) the relevant regulations that the product complies with your name and signature date of issuance of the declaration additional information (if applicable)3 you need to list in the UK compliance statement the relevant UK directives (non-eu Directives) the relevant UK standards (which are quoted in the non-eu Official Gazette) Note: On 1 January the UK standards will be substantially and referentially the same as those used in the EU 2021. However, they will use the prefix "BS" to indicate that they are standards adopted by the British Standards Institution as the UK's National Standards Body.
