What is MID?
MID is the European Parliament & Council's Measuring Instruments Directive. Measurement instruments within the scope of the directive must pass the corresponding conformity assessment procedures before delivery, comply with the 2004/22/EC directive, and affix the CE mark before they can be placed on the EU market.
From March 31, 2004 to April 30, 2006, all EU member states have 25 months to implement this MID instruction in their country, and implement the measurement law in the measurement instrument type certification without a deadline. In the case of a maximum validity period of 10 years from October 30, 2006.

Requirements and scope
Measuring instruments are used in the public interest, health, safety, order, environmental protection, consumer protection, travel, taxation, tariffs, etc., all of which in principle require compliance with MID requirements. In the actual operation process, MID mainly regulates the following measuring instruments:

Design production mode
Mode A DoC based on internal production management (A1=+product testing of the designated organization)
Mode B specifies the type inspection of the organization
Mode G Based on the DoC of a single organization for certification of a single product
Mode H DoC based on comprehensive quality assurance system (A1=+product testing of designated institutions)
Mode C Based on the type of internal production management DoC (C1 = + product testing of the designated organization)
Mode D Based on the type of QA production process DoC (D1 = production process based DoC)
Mode E QA-based final product inspection and testing of the type of DoC (E1 = QA-based final product inspection and testing of DoC)
Mode F is based on the type of product certification of the designated organization (A1 = DoC based on the type of product certification of the designated organization)
The mode of Module B+ D or B+F is generally adopted in the industry.

Measuring instrument MID application process
The product information is ready for 3-6 months to obtain the MID certificate for measuring instruments.
1. The basic information of the product provided by the customer is used to judge the applicable standard of the MID certified product, and determine the certification mode of the product, such as the model list, material, specification, performance, characteristics and use of the product.
2. Develop training, testing, and audit plans based on the certification model, and negotiate and determine the details of the certification.
3. Provide training and initial evaluation of product standards and production management systems to customers.
4. Perform sample type test, factory audit, and quality management system audit (determined according to the certification mode).
5. The MID CE certificate is issued by the certification body.
6. Follow-up product supervision and quality management system supervision (determined according to the certification mode).
