What is EU CE certification? How to apply for CE certification?

Update:2020-12-01  View:7611

In the EU market, "CE" mark is a compulsory certification mark. No matter the products produced by enterprises within the EU or products produced by other countries, if they want to circulate freely in the EU market, they must be pasted with the "CE" mark to show that the products meet the basic requirements of the new method of technical coordination and standardization of the EU.

CE certification is available in 32 countries / regions in Europe, including: EU 28, EFTA, Turkey. Products with CE mark can be freely circulated in the European Economic Area (EEA).

Note: EFTA members are Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Lichtenstein. CE mark is not mandatory in Switzerland.

The list of 28 EU countries is: Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Italy, Cyprus, Latvian, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Maltese, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland and Switzerland The United Kingdom.

Outside the EU, CE certification is widely used and has high global recognition. In Southeast Asia, Central Asia and Africa, CE certification is highly recognized.

The scope of CE certification is very wide, and the vast majority of products exported to Europe need CE certification. According to the new EU legislative framework NLF regulation, CE currently has 22 directives.

CE does not have a unified certification authority, which can be divided into announcement number certification and non announcement certification.

Notification body certificate: the certificate issued by the notified body (NB), which is responsible for product conformity and protected by law. Therefore, there is no problem to determine the validity of the CE certificate issued by the EU notification body. For export customs clearance, the certificate issued by this type of organization is the most effective. Generally speaking, this kind of certificate is suitable for enterprises that export for a long time.

Non announcement body certificate: CE certificate issued by Chinese certification authority according to EU standards, with low cost and short time. However, it is impossible for the importer or the distributor to be recognized by the EU certification authority. This kind of certificate is suitable for small enterprises that do not export frequently or do brand promotion only without export demand.

CE certification is a necessary passport for export to European market. CE certification of export products can reduce the risk of customs detention. Once facing punishment and litigation, CE certification can also be used as favorable evidence.
